Description

Description

The project involves the reconstruction of Pärnu’s central Kesklinna bridge in Estonia. The project specifically involves creatingtwo different design optionsfor the new bridge. One option will be for afixed bridge, while the other will be for amovable (opening) bridge, allowing ships to pass through if needed. Both designs will also include estimated construction costs, enabling the city authorities to compare the alternatives and decide which type best suits Pärnu’s needs. In addition to functionality, the project emphasizeshistorical and aesthetic considerations. The new bridge is expected to visually resemble the formerSuursild, a four-arched bridge that existed in the same location before World War II. This shows that the reconstruction is not just about modern infrastructure, but also about preserving the city’s architectural heritage and identity. The design phase of the project is expected to take aroundsix monthsand cost approximately€243,000. After the designs are completed, the city government will review them and choose the most suitable option before moving ahead with construction. The full reconstruction of the bridge is planned to be completed byautumn 2028, making it a long-term infrastructure project for the city.
