Profertil is an Argentinian company that produces fertilizers; its main product is granulated urea for improving agricultural yields. Profertil has a production capacity of 1.1 million tons of granulated urea per year. It is the only company producing this type of fertilizer in Argentina and much of the region. Profertil markets almost all of its production in the local market, but it also exports to other countries in the region and beyond.The IIC loan will comprise an A loan and a B loan for a total of up to US$70 million. The purpose of the loan is to finance an industrial plant, storage silos, and a jetty on the Paraná River, in the municipality of Puerto General San Martín. The IIC will syndicate part of the loan to attract other banks to provide Profertil with financing on the same terms. The IIC loan will help Profertil improve the efficiency of its logistics in terms of storage, distribution, and transportation to the main agricultural production areas in the country.
