Program for the Expansion and Improvement of Initial and Basic Education

The program will consist on the following components: (i) institutional strengthening of MED through changes in the management structure, human resources administration and management information system; (ii) improvement of coverage in initial and basic education also including the expansion to 9th grade and the establishment of a financial plan to maintenance of infraestructure; (iii) teacher training improvement through the implementation of a continous training strategy for initial and basic educ. teachers; (iv) adaptation of the curriculum to the integral and participative model that the government is supporting; and (v) monitoring and evaluation system that will allow to evaluate continously and consistently the results of the changes introduced by the MED in curriculum, teacher training and institutional management.
