Program to promote energy efficiency and renewable energies in Chile

The program promotes investments in renewable energies and energy efficiency (4E) in Chile. To this end, the Republic of Chile will grant a refinancing loan to the Chilean state development institution Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO), which will pass the funds on to the final borrowers via financial intermediaries. An accompanying measure for the program is planned to support financial intermediaries in product development and investment evaluation, as well as project identification and planning on the part of the final borrowers. The overarching development policy objective of the program is to make a contribution to national and global climate and environmental protection and to contribute to sustainable energy supply and security of supply in Chile by diversifying the energy matrix. The program's objective is to promote the spread of renewable energy use and energy efficiency measures in Chile through needs-based, sustainable and efficient access to loans for RE/EE investments. The target group of the program is companies, private households and public investors who take advantage of the program. The entire population of Chile benefits indirectly through improved energy supply and the contribution to local and global environmental and resource protection.
