Description

Description

The program presented here is intended to provide the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Banco Centroamericano de Integración Económica, BCIE) with a low-interest loan of up to EUR 50 million (in USD equivalent). The program is part of an ongoing overall program of the BCIE (Iniciativa Dinamica), which pursues a comprehensive approach to promoting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Central America and combines an FC-financed MSME loan component (BMZ No. 2012 66 337, predecessor phase of the program presented here) with EU/LAIF-financed technical support measures for incubators, newly founded, young and/or innovative MSMEs and financial institutions. The program presented here includes an expansion of the MSME loan component, as there is a need for financing beyond the previous phase for loans for growth-oriented and, above all, innovative MSMEs in the region. The concept of the program presented here builds on the previous phase and focuses even more strongly on promoting innovative MSMEs.
