Description

Description

In the Peruvian coastal towns of Trujillo and Chimbote, access to drinking water and wastewater disposal is limited for thousands of people following the flood disaster caused by the El Niño Costero climate phenomenon. The FC Flood Relief and Prevention of Climate Damage program contributes to the sustainable and climate-resilient rehabilitation and safeguarding of the damaged drinking water and wastewater infrastructure in the cities of Trujillo and Chimbote. With its contribution to climate adaptation and environmental protection, the project fits into the DC program goals for sustainable urban development in times of climate change. The target group of the project is the population living in Trujillo and Chimbote who are connected to the central water supply and wastewater disposal system and are affected by the destruction. The total costs for implementing the project are estimated at EUR 10.0 million, of which the German FC is to cover EUR 7.8 million and the Peruvian side EUR 2.2 million. The recipient, sponsor and implementer is the Peruvian Ministry of Housing, Construction and Urban Water Management (MVCS).
