In Phase II of the FC module Program to Promote Basic Education, additional Teaching Practice Schools (TPSs) linked to three Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) in Lilongwe, Dedza and Blantyre through a partnership agreement will be selected based on criteria, structurally expanded, furnished as required and - if urgently necessary - rehabilitated. Further urgent renovation work will also be carried out at the three TTCs. The aim of the project is to increase the quality of practical teacher training at selected TPS by improving the framework conditions for student teachers. A contribution will also be made to improving the learning conditions for students and the teaching conditions for teachers in primary schools. The project is part of the DC program to promote basic education in Malawi and is in line with the national strategic plan for the education sector. The target group of the project is primarily student teachers, who will benefit from an improvement in the framework conditions at TTCs and TPSs. Other beneficiaries are primary school students and teachers at the TPSs. The FC share of the second phase amounts to EUR 10 million with an estimated total duration of up to 4 years.
