As part of the FC module Program to Promote Basic Education, Teaching Practice Schools (TPSs) linked to three Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) in Lilongwe, Dedza and Blantyre are selected based on criteria through a partnership agreement, structurally expanded, furnished as required and - if urgently necessary - rehabilitated. Furthermore, depending on the condition of the existing facilities, the need and the urgency, the sanitary systems of the three TTCs will be renovated. The aim of the project is to increase the quality of practical teacher training at selected TPS by improving the framework conditions for student teachers. A contribution is also to be made to improving the learning conditions for students and the teaching conditions for teachers in primary schools. The project is part of the DC program to promote basic education in Malawi and is in line with the national strategic plan for the education sector. The target group of the project is primarily student teachers, who will benefit from an improvement in the framework conditions at TTCs and TPSs. Other beneficiaries are primary school students and teachers at the TPSs. The FC share amounts to EUR 15 million with an estimated total duration of up to 4 years. In addition, a stockpile audit (SPA) for a possible second phase of the project with a FC volume of up to EUR 25.0 million is included, of which EUR 10 million has now been committed in Phase II.
