Description | The Project 09851 Khabarovsk is a nuclear-powered submarine launched by Russia, designed to carry the Poseidon underwater nuclear drone. It is the first operational carrier of the Poseidon system, a nuclear-capable autonomous torpedo for strategic deterrence. The submarine was launched at the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk and will undergo outfitting and sea trials before becoming fully operational. It measures approximately 113 meters in length, has a beam exceeding 10 meters, and an underwater displacement close to 10,000 tonnes. It is powered by a nuclear reactor allowing it to remain submerged for 90 to 120 days and can carry up to six Poseidon underwater drones along with standard torpedo tubes for self-defense. |
