Description
Description | The Project-18 destroyer is India's most powerful naval platform designed to dominate maritime theatres with unmatched missile firepower and advanced stealth capabilities. It will be the Indian Navy's largest and most sophisticated surface combatant, featuring 144 vertical launch system cells for various missile types including long-range air defence, cruise missiles, and future hypersonic missiles. The warship incorporates next-generation radar and integrated electronic warfare systems, with at least 75% of its systems sourced from Indian defence manufacturers under the Make in India initiative. It will support multi-role helicopters and autonomous underwater drones, aiming to become operational in the 2030s and anchor the Indian Navy's expansion to 170-175 warships by 2035. |
