Description | The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is reactivating dormant oil fields, fast-tracking regulatory approvals, and enhancing operational efficiencies to increase oil production as part of its one million barrels per day initiative launched in 2024. The initiative aims to increase production to 2.5 million barrels per day by 2026, with current production averaging 1.7 to 1.83 million barrels per day. The project also includes new licensing rounds for exploration, approval of new evacuation routes, and enforcement of domestic crude supply obligations to support local refineries and reduce crude theft. |
