Description | The Centre has approved negotiations to build six advanced submarines under Project 75 India, in collaboration with German firm ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. The submarines will be equipped with Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) systems, enabling longer underwater endurance of up to three weeks. The project aims to modernise the Indian Navy’s fleet and boost indigenous submarine manufacturing. Mazagaon Dockyard Limited (MDL) and the Defence Ministry have been authorised to begin talks, expected to start by the end of August 2025. India is also developing two nuclear attack submarines with L&T as part of parallel efforts. |
