Description
Description | China's Project 921 aims to achieve a crewed lunar landing by 2030 and build a permanent scientific lunar base near the Moon's south pole by 2035, with expansion planned by 2040. The project includes development of new spacecraft such as the Mengzhou spacecraft, a new ultra-powerful Long March-10 rocket, and the Lanyue lander. The lunar base will be constructed using 3D-printed bricks made from lunar soil and is a collaboration with Russia. The base will support archaeological research, strategic technology breakthroughs, and lunar resource exploitation. The lunar base will also serve as a technology validation site for a future manned Mars mission after 2040. |
