Project Acacia Wholesale Digital Money Trials

under testing

Project Acacia is a collaborative initiative by the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Centre, supported by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). It aims to trial 24 use cases involving crypto assets and central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) to support the growth of Australia's wholesale tokenised asset markets. The trials will explore various settlement assets including stablecoins, bank deposit tokens, a pilot wholesale CBDC, and enhanced uses of banks' existing exchange settlement accounts at the RBA. Major Australian banks such as Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group, and Westpac are participating.
