Description
Description | Project Acacia is a major trial of tokenized assets for wholesale finance conducted by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) in collaboration with the Digital Finance Cooperative Research Center (DFCRC). The project tested 20 institutional use cases including bonds, managed funds, repurchase agreements, structured products, private markets, carbon credits, and trade payables. The trial demonstrated potential gains from fewer handoffs, more automation, and shorter settlement windows, which can reduce counterparty risk. The RBA is considering upgrades to settlement systems and exploring whether tokenized money could improve wholesale cross-border payments. |
