Project Artemis Long-Range One-Way Unmanned Aerial Systems

Project Artemis is an initiative by the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and the Department of Defense to develop and demonstrate long-range, one-way unmanned aerial systems (UAS) designed to operate in contested electronic warfare and GPS-denied environments. The project focuses on rapid prototyping of ground-launched, affordable, and adaptable loitering munitions with operational ranges from 50 to over 300 kilometers and payload capacities from 10 to over 25 kilograms. It aims to field systems capable of delivering strike effects or conducting intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) in demanding conditions, leveraging combat experience and partnerships with Ukrainian developers.
