Description | Project DANTAK is a premier infrastructure development initiative by the Government of India in Bhutan, under the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Established in April 1961, it aims to develop critical national infrastructure and strengthen connectivity across Bhutan to support socio-economic transformation and India-Bhutan partnership. The project includes construction of over 1,500 km of roads, strategic highways like the East-West Highway, aviation infrastructure including Paro International Airport and Yongphula Airport, and development of hospitals, schools, telecommunications, and hydropower infrastructure. Recent efforts focus on capacity enhancement such as double laning of key roads and disaster resilience by restoring connectivity after natural calamities. Ongoing works include road upgradation in south-eastern Bhutan and strengthening highways on the Damchu–Chhukha axis. |
