ContentWhether they are flower growers or textile suppliers, industries around the world need energy for production. Rising electricity prices and insufficient security of supply with predominantly fossil energy sources make efficient and climate-friendly energy supply alternatives attractive.However, the opportunity to switch is often not fully exploited because in-depth knowledge or sound entrepreneurial risk assessments are required.In addition to trade and industry, refugee camp operators are another target group for conversion to renewable energies. This is because they often still use diesel generators to provide energy or water.ObjectiveClimate-friendly energy solutions are widespread and market access for German and European small and medium-sized enterprises is facilitated in selected cooperation countries. This improves economic developments and global economic relations and contributes to climate protection.ApproachThe Project Development Programme (PDP) combines development cooperation with entrepreneurial commitment from the private sector. The markets of emerging and developing countries are promising, but also pose challenges for international business partners. The PDP team therefore develops commercially financeable renewable energy and energy efficiency projects with local companies and offers business initiation with German or European small and medium-sized enterprises.The project also collects data from energy consumers and evaluates it technically and economically. It advises local companies free of charge and without prejudice to their interests, and brings them into contact with German or European business partners.At the same time, the project supports market development through training, analyses and studies on the risks and potentials of renewable energies. It also promotes the establishment of private-sector business relations by visiting reference plants in the cooperation countries.
