The NSW portion is a 700 km line from the border to Wagga Wagga with two new substations at Buronga and Dinawan. The project is critical for unlocking up to 3.5 GW of new renewables capacity and helping South Australia reach 100% net renewables by 2027. The South Australian portion was completed on time and on budget in December 2023. The NSW portion has faced cost blowouts and delays due to floods, labour shortages, inflation, and contractor insolvency. |
