Project Him Sarovar is an initiative launched by the Ladakh administration to ensure year-round water security in the high-altitude cold desert region. The project involves engineering a series of gravity-based storage ponds along the slopes of Ladakh's mountains to collect melting snow and glacial water, which primarily flows into rivers and streams. These ponds will support irrigation and rural water needs and aim to develop a local model for climate-resilient water management. The project also includes plans for plantation drives, winter sports facilities, recreational spaces, and boosting local agriculture.
