The Bessemer City Council approved rezoning of 914 additional acres for the proposed Project Marvel data center campus. The rezoning shifts land owned by Logistic Land Investment LLC from agricultural use to light industrial, expanding the overall footprint of the project. The plan maintains the same number of 18 data center buildings but distributes them across a larger area to create more open space, wider buffers from nearby homes, and increased distance from the proposed Northern Beltline corridor. The redesign addresses compatibility with future transportation plans and aims to support long-term economic growth, despite ongoing community concerns about environmental and infrastructure impacts.
