Description | Energy Exploration Technologies (EnergyX) and Compass Minerals have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a commercial-scale direct lithium extraction (DLE) and refinery plant near the Great Salt Lake in Utah, US. The facility aims to produce 30,000 tonnes per annum of lithium and will be one of the first commercial-scale DLE plants in the country. EnergyX plans to fund, build, and operate the facility with an investment of around $400 million across two phases, utilizing GET-Lit technology and refining methods to ensure efficient lithium recovery with reduced water usage and environmental impact. The project is expected to create around 200 jobs and generate more than $600 million in annual revenue upon completion. |
