Description

The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL, or the Department, or we), announces the availability of approximately $4,000,000 total costs for one or more cooperative agreements to fund a technical assistance project(s) in Madagascar to reduce child labor in the vanilla-producing areas of the Sava region of Madagascar. The project outcomes include: 1) Vanilla exporters have significantly reduced child labor in the production of vanilla at the farm and collection levels in Sava. 2) Law enforcement entities are effectively enforcing child labor laws and policies in the vanilla-producing areas of Sava, including imposing and collecting penalties and referring child labor victims to appropriate services. 3) Community members are monitoring for child labor and are referring victims of child labor to the appropriate authorities and services. 4) Beneficiary households are no longer using child labor to supplement household income. The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award.
