PROJET D'APPUI A LA DIRECTION DE LA STATISTIQUE ET LA PREVISION

The present project concerns the support to the Projection and Statistics Department (DPS) and the Poverty Reduction Programme Monitoring Unit (CSPLP). It aims to contribute to improving the quality of public service provision by strengthening the system of coordination, collection, production and dissemination of economic and social information, monitoring and implementation of the PRSP. Indeed, the implementation of the project should permit to better coordinate, produce and disseminate reliable and regular economic and social information that is useful for analysis and decision support by both the government and private operators. In addition, this project contributes to producing statistics according to international standards and is part of the sub-regional strategy for the harmonization of statistics. It should facilitate the monitoring of the multilateral convergence criteria of WAEMU member states. The three components of the project are: (i) strengthening the coordination, production and dissemination capacities of the economic, financial and social information of the DPS; (ii) strengthening the implementation mechanism of the PRSP; (iii) strengthening the Project Implementation Unit.
