Prometheus AI-Driven Nuclear Reactor Development Project

The Prometheus project is a collaboration between NVIDIA and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to use artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate nuclear reactor development. The project aims to cut nuclear reactor build times by up to 50% and reduce operating costs by a similar margin by applying AI across the full nuclear lifecycle, including design, licensing, construction, and operations. It involves improving nuclear simulation codes, using digital twins for virtual modeling, and testing AI systems at INL facilities such as the Neutron Radiography Reactor and the MARVEL microreactor.
