Description
Description | The proposed Project will build on the Bank’s current engagement to support access to quality schooling and contribute to the Haitian education sector's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the earthquake of August 14, 2021. The Project proposes to strengthen governance and system effectiveness and resilience by building on the ongoing PEES project, provide continued support to schools, students and school staff currently benefiting from activities under the PEQH project that will close in October 2022, and finance the rehabilitation and construction of schools that collapsed or were severely damaged by the recent earthquake. The total project amount will be US$105.6 million with US$15.6 million from the Global Partnership for Education – Education sector program implementation grant, and the remaining from IDA. The proposed Project will include the following components: (1) improving the Ministry of Education’s planning functions; (2) supporting access to quality primary education in targeted public and non-public schools; (3) increasing availability of safe school infrastructure; (4) project management, monitoring and evaluation, and targeted support, and (5) contingency emergency response component (CERC). |
