The FC measure is a continuation of the project to promote certified forest management (2008 66 707). Its aim is to ensure that industrial forest use in the Congo Basin is increasingly carried out in accordance with the principles of sustainable management. The target group is the largely poor population in the peripheral areas of industrial forestry concessions and, more broadly, the world population due to the project's impact on the global goods of biodiversity and climate. The measures are primarily aimed at improving the conceptual and institutional framework for certification and improving the quality of commercial tropical natural forest management in the Congo Basin. The aim is also to improve knowledge of sustainable natural forest management. The support measures are mainly carried out in the Central African countries with industrial forest management (Cameroon, DRC, Congo, CAR and Gabon). The total cost of the third phase of the demand-oriented open program, planned over a period of 4 years, is estimated at around EUR 13 million. Of this, EUR 10 million will be financed from FC funds.
