Description

Description

"ENIL's project ""Promoting Choice, Control and Participation for All Persons with Disabilities in Europe and Beyond - 2025"" (Choice4All) aims to advance access to the right to independent living and being included in the community for all persons with disabilities in the European Union and beyond. The project will ensure the continuation of ENIL's four key objectives: to build a stronger and unified movement of persons with disabilities on independent living at the European level; to support the implementation of the European strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021 - 2030, the Social Rights Pillar, the UN CRPD, and other relevant laws and policies in the EU; to increase awareness of the right to independent living among all the relevant stakeholders; and to improve the capacity of ENIL members to contribute to the implementation of the ESRPD, the CRPD and other relevant laws and policies at the local and national level. Key activities in 2025 will include: the adoption of a new Strategic Plan for ENIL and ENIL Youth for 2026 - 2029; the election of new leadership for both ENIL and ENIL Youth; the launch of the Roadmap on Independent Living; providing input into the second phase of the ESRPD and the next Multiannual Financial Framework; working with the new European Commission and the European Parliament to promote independent living; raising awareness among ENIL members and persons with disabilities in general about the recent policies and laws relevant to independent living; strengthening leadership among young persons with disabilities. The project will address the remaining barriers to independent living and utilise the opportunities provided by the recent advancements in policy and law, such as the European Disability Card, the horizontal Equality Directive, and the recommendations by the CRPD Committee to the European Union, which are expected in 2025."
