Promoting Disaster Risk Insurance

The TA will provide knowledge support for India to strengthen the country's disaster risk financing system by promoting insurance solutions. The TA will (i) assess the enabling environment of two selected states for insurance solutions, including gaps in existing policies and conditions, and provide recommendations to the state governments; (ii) design pilot insurance products at a district level in the selected states, and support the roll-out of innovative insurance products; and (iii) develop proposals for a national-level disaster risk insurance pool and/or reinsurance arrangements.
