Description
Description | In the sixth year of the Syrian crisis, 13.5 million people in Syria are dependent on aid, including 6 million children. The massive refugee movements within the country continue due to the incessant ongoing fighting in many Syrian areas and are putting a strain on the already scarce resources and social infrastructure of the host communities. The aim of the FC project is to contribute to strengthening the resilience of Syrian internally displaced persons and host communities in the ongoing crisis and to improve their economic and social living conditions. The target group of the project includes Syrian internally displaced persons (currently a total of around 6.6 million people) and the population in the host communities, whose resources and infrastructure are particularly strained by the refugees. The planned three components of the FC project include the labor-intensive rehabilitation and improvement of basic infrastructure and social services as well as other labor-intensive and income-generating measures in the productive sector. The project is directly funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as the recipient and project sponsor. To co-finance the UNDP project entitled Strengthen the Resilience of the Syrian People and Foster the Recovery of Disrupted Livelihoods, a financial contribution of EUR 20.0 million is planned as part of the special initiative Combating the Causes of Flight, Reintegrating Refugees. |
