Promoting investments in energy efficiency and renewable energies through the banking sector (eco-credits)

There is a great need for investments in energy efficiency and renewable energies in Serbia. The two main obstacles are (i) limited access to long-term financing for corresponding investments and (ii) the low level of awareness among companies and the population of the need to save energy. The project proposed here addresses both points. The project supports the expansion of the credit offer to promote energy efficiency (EE) and renewable energies (RE) by the Serbian financial sector. These so-called eco-loans are to be made available to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), private households and municipalities, thus improving their access to medium to long-term financing.
