Description

Description

The aim of the FC measure is to improve the accessibility of agricultural production areas by rehabilitating suitable transport and marketing capacities, reduce transport costs and thereby make better use of agricultural production potential and increase the income of the agricultural population. With 70% of the workforce and 22% of the national economic value added, the agricultural sector is a central pillar of the Ugandan economy and society. However, the market connection of agricultural businesses is limited by overall inadequate investment in the marketing and transport infrastructure. The project is therefore intended to finance investments in the rehabilitation of rural roads and markets. An improved transport and marketing infrastructure that enables year-round accessibility of the production areas at lower costs and more efficient marketing creates new production and trade incentives, increased revenues and increased agricultural incomes. In addition, investments in the road network also improve access to social services (education, health, etc.). Overall, the project region would participate more in the country's economic development and offer additional agricultural and alternative employment opportunities in the long term and sustainably.
