Promoting social services in Ukraine

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, this project cannot be continued in the originally planned form. The remaining available funds are to be used within the scope of the project's previous purpose in order to continue to support the living conditions of internally displaced persons and host communities - as far as possible - and to be able to have the best possible effect in the changed context described. In terms of structure building, a significant contribution is to be made to the promotion of important basic social services in 18 communities in central and western Ukraine in order to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable population groups. On the other hand, children and young people, as a particularly vulnerable group within the local population, are to be supported in their development and at the same time integrated into the project as promoters of social change (social change agents) in order to strengthen social cohesion in the communities. Implementation will be carried out by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF will largely carry out capacity building measures by coaching employees of local authorities in relation to the provision of basic services and improving the educational situation. The provision of higher quality, safer drinking water in selected communities is also part of the project.
