Description | Continue the work on promoting and preserving the Rule of Law and judicial independence in the EU. In 2026-2029 the ENCJ will work on these strategic objectives: • To protect and promote the Rule of Law by providing support for the independence of the European judiciary dedicated to accountability and quality. To be the voice of the independent European judiciary and provide its perspective to the EU institutions. • To assist Councils for the Judiciary in the age of digital transformation. • To strengthen mutual trust among the judiciaries of Europe. Following activities will be undertake to achieve the strategic objectives: 1. to promote and preserve the Rule of Law, including solidarity actions; 2. to strengthen the position of the judiciary in a democratic state; 3. provision of a judicial perspective; 4. promotion of the independence and accountability of the judiciary; 5. promotion of quality of the judiciary; 6. assisting Councils for the Judiciary in the age of digital transformation; 7. promoting European Judicial culture; 8. sharing information on the organization of national judicial systems; 9. promoting access to fair and impartial courts. Through the use of multiple tools and practises, the forseen short term impact of the activities is an increased awareness among the Councils for the Judiciary of the shared challenges in the judiciaries in Europe, insight in the solutions applied in other judiciaries, an increased sense of solidarity and increased mutual trust. Medium- long-term impact is an increased awareness in the Member States for a more an independent, accountable, effective and high-quality justice system, its contribution to economic growth and ensurance of access to justice for all. Increased public trust and confidence is also a foreseen. A long-term impact of the ENCJ activities is an emerging common European culture specific to the Councils for the Judiciary, who serve as the guarantors of the independence of the judiciary. |
