Promoting tourism in the Lys Valley

The towns of Aire-sur-la-Lys and Harelbeke are keen to roll out a number of innovative projects related to tourism in the Lys Region, namely: - Cycle tourism: the infrastructure of cycle routes will be developed and the green and blue network will be promoted by a 3-day cycling tour in the Lys Valley. - River tourism: through a study into the siting of "marinas" in each municipality and the great communication about river tourism along the river. - The nature attractions in the Lys valley will be promoted among young people through educational kits and programmes for secondary school pupils. - A joint programme of festive and tourist events, including the giants and musical entertainment, will focus attention on the restored historic centre of Aire-sur-La-Lys and on the redevelopment of the banks of the River Lys in Harelbeke.
