Description

Description

NO-OBLIVION “Promoting Universal Jurisdiction while Evoking the Crimes Committed within the Former Yugoslavia” looks back at the conflicts of the former Yugoslavia to, through a victim-centric and jurisprudential lens, preserve the lessons learnt in the aftermath of this war and ultimately safeguard an European legacy of respect for human rights, rule of law and peace. To this effect the project deploys holistic and intergenerational two-fold approach: on the one hand, a holistic awareness-raising campaign directed at younger generations, and further expanded to the masses; and on the other, an interweaved knowledge building strategy focused on justice professionals and their capacitation in what concerns Universal Jurisdiction and International Criminal Law. In this line, the project will host a myriad of different events such as multigenerational talks and podcasts, conferences, virtual exhibitions, livestreamed movie screenings and performing arts showcases, as well as develop important informative materials like an Academic Journal, a Case-Law Booklet and guiding infographic that will prove useful for practitioners and academics alike. As such, the project aims to reach around 2400 persons over the span of 12 months a number that could potentially grow with the concerted dissemination strategy in-built. Contextually, NO-OBLIVION will achieve the digitisation of historical material and testimonies; identification, safeguarding and availability of archival material; higher capacitation of present and future justice professionals ; engagement of Europeans from different backgrounds and gender; perpetuation of social justice and victim redress; and promotion of democratic values, the Rule of Law and Human Rights.
