Description
Description | The project to promote vaccine production in Senegal aims to initiate significant reforms in the Senegalese pharmaceutical sector in order to promote local vaccine production and to supply the population with safe vaccines in line with their needs. The target group of the project is the entire Senegalese population and other (West) African countries that import locally produced vaccines. Institutions and companies as well as their employees in the Senegalese pharmaceutical sector benefit indirectly. This is sector budget financing that is implemented jointly with the Agence Francaise de Développement (AFD) and the European Union (EU) and is based on a common policy matrix of the three donors. The FC grant amounts to EUR 20 million and is designed for two years. Specifically, the following areas of action are to be taken into account in the context of budget financing: 1) Institutional management for the implementation of the national reform plan, 2) further development of the regulatory framework, 3) training and further education in the sector, 4) promotion of national vaccine sovereignty through the creation of physical production capacities, and 5) improvement of the investment climate. |
