Description
Description | The project aims to strengthen fish processing (aimed at human consumption) and employment in Mauritania's fishing sector. This will be achieved by supporting companies along the value chain of pelagic species (small schooling fish). The overall aim of the project is to make a contribution to improving the nutritional situation in Mauritania and the region. In view of the increasing global demand for fish, Mauritanian companies are to be supported in the transformation of fish meal/oil into fish processing for human consumption. This is to be done through access to financial products adapted to this purpose that reflect the value chain, as well as through training measures for employees and entrepreneurs along the value chain. Both contribute to a more sustainable use of fish as a resource and at the same time enable the accelerated expansion of Mauritanian export capacities and thus the demand for labor in the sector. This creates a high proportion of jobs, including for women. |
