Description

Description

On the Upper Rhine, almost forty cultural, tourist and civil society actors are working on the upgrading of the castles without voting on a transnational level. As a result, little knowledge and initiatives are shared between stakeholders and there are few coordinated actions targeting the audience. For residents and tourists, this wealth of cultural heritage is not necessarily known and visible at national or transnational level, although castles on the Upper Rhine are ubiquitous (over 300 castles recorded). For the Collectivité européenne d’Alsace and its cross-border partners, the implementation of joint actions in the fields of research, cultural education, tourism and civic engagement in the castles could increase the visibility of this heritage to the public, its protection and its identification with Rhenish identity. First of all, the joint work will focus on the collection and production of content: Excavations, legends, databases, 3D recording, diagnosis of existing signage, definition of events (scenarios, markets, search for service providers), development of a common set of rules for competition... Afterwards, this work of collecting and producing content will be incorporated into the mediation and tourism activities: Colloquia, events, treasure hunt, competitions, exhibitions, videos, signage... Finally, these measures are shared with the networks for researchers and the general public (volunteers, owners or/and administrators of castles, tourist offices...). By the end of the project in three years, about 40 partner structures and about 65 persons should have been involved in the implementation of the measures. This means that the following services must be provided: 1 common logo, 1 website dedicated to the project, 1 updated database of castles, 1 Colloquium, 1 joint excavation programme, 1 yearly coordinated cultural season, 1 app for scavenger hunts, 1 competition, 1 exhibition, 1 coordinated action plan for tourism marketing; 1 common specifications for information boards; 1 3D upgrade of a selection of castles, 1 Meeting of the network of castles, 1 school or extracurricular meeting of young people in a castle. And this co-construction of joint actions has also made it possible for the partners to get to know each other better and to plan long-term actions together.
