Promotion of social infrastructure 2nd phase

The project builds on the successfully completed Moldova Social Investment Fund program (BMZ No. 2004 65 211) and the Social Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency program (BMZ No. 2009 66 440) for the development of social infrastructure in the Republic of Moldova with a focus on intensive target group participation. The new project is intended to use a large portion of the funds made available to finance additional measures such as the expansion of schools, daycare centers, community centers with care options for senior citizens, the expansion and rehabilitation of water supply and sewage disposal systems, and to a lesser extent road construction. The prerequisite for project implementation is the formation of a responsible project group from the local population and joint prioritization of the measures to be implemented. The target group must also provide the required own contribution. A partial amount of EUR 0.4 million is earmarked for projects in Transnistria that are intended to contribute to the rapprochement between the two parts of the country at a local level (component 2). Funding of EUR 2.0 million has been made available for the project, which will be covered by own contributions of EUR 1.5 million. 0.94 million euros. The project is scheduled to run until the end of the first quarter of 2020.
