Description | The Propel NY Energy project is a $3.2 billion infrastructure initiative to install 58 miles of underground power transmission lines throughout Nassau County, New York. The project aims to improve the region's electrical system by establishing three ties between Long Island and the statewide power grid, mostly utilizing 345kV transmission lines. It involves construction of new substations, underground and submarine cables, and spans multiple towns and villages in Nassau County, as well as parts of Westchester County, New York City, and Suffolk County. The project is a collaboration between the New York Power Authority and New York Transco and is expected to begin construction in 2026 and be in service by May 2030. |
