The project was to be built with the help of the USSR using nuclear explosions to shift a hillside. Tunnels were prepared, but the project was halted and remains incomplete. The dam would generate abundant electricity to meet the needs of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and support industrial development. The project is proposed to mitigate flood risks from China's dam by regulating water flow and providing early warning systems. |
