Description
Description | The FC measure aims to develop and implement measures for the protection and sustainable community management of natural forest ecosystems in selected districts inhabited predominantly by local ethnic minorities in the provinces of Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Quang Nam in the central highlands of Vietnam. This is intended to contribute to improving the livelihoods, including the income situation, of the local population. By developing and applying performance-based incentive systems, the local population will be actively involved in the protection and management of forest areas. At the same time, they will be granted long-term collective use titles to the areas. In addition, funds will be set up at village level to finance investments to stimulate economic activities. The experiences will be presented at local and national level and incorporated into the legal framework. In this context, there will be close coordination with GIZ. The total cost of the project is estimated at around EUR 11.3 million and 70% of this will be financed as a FC grant (EUR 8 million). |
