Description
Description | The EU member states and Russia have unique legal systems, but they are united by common priority, unquestionable supremacy of human rights. However, challenges still exist in monitoring and protecting human rights at legal level and in teaching human rights literacy at academic level. Thus, exploring the European human rights system, which is the most developed one, is crucial to fill gaps in learning, teaching and capacity building. The ProEU project aims at promoting legal literacy in society and contributes to improving legal systems based on values and principles of European Union law and policy on human rights by: - enhancing skills of BA law students in applying European Union law and policy through the new module “Protection of Human Rights within the European Union” (at least 90 persons); - spreading knowledge about the European human rights system to different target groups, including general public, through the project activities (set of training courses – at least 225 persons; Winter School of Law “Academia Legis” – at least 50 persons; forum “EU Human Rights Policy” – at least 250 persons); - increasing the research capacity of students, teachers and researchers at Penza State University (advising BA, MA, PhD students; conducting joint studies with partners from the EU, the RF and other states; publishing the book on good governance in the EU); - facilitating interaction among the academic, legal, political and social communities by means of the university-wide network (forum, website, social media, mass media). Through active outreach and educational work, Penza State University will become a platform for public diplomacy and centre for exploring European Union law and policy. The ProEU project will bring the EU closer to various target groups in the Penza Region (students, schoolchildren, teachers, researchers, legal professionals, public administrators, civil society, general public) and promote its outputs and outcomes to other regions and states. |
