Information Department of Telecommunications has come up with Provision of 4G based Mobile Services in Uncovered Villages and National Highways of Meghalaya with a ticket size of 971.96 INR Crores. This project in Telecommunication & Telecom Services sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Not Applicable Economic/Social Impact of the Project Agreement has been signed with M/s Bharti Hexacom Limited on 04.09.2020 for provision of 4G based Mobile Services in 1164 Uncovered Villages and 11 National Highways of Meghalaya by installing 889 towers [includes 11 NHW sites] at an estimated cost of Rs. 804.37. The physical survey of the original set of 889 sites have been completed and after survey out of 889 sites, 383 sites are proposed for installation of mobile tower as per the availability/non availability of the mobile network coverage. Further, additional 528 sites covering 723 villages have been added on the request of State Government at the cost of Rs. 167.59 Cr. Survey for these additional sites is under progress and roll out period for installation of these sites is upto 24.05.2024 After addition & deletion of the sites, the final revised scope is 911 sites covering 1286 villages. The revised cost of the project is Rs. 971.96 Cr. Till March 2023, out of 383 initially sites 340 sites have been installed and commissioned covering 510 villages. For balance 43 sites of original scope, target for completion is 3rd September 2023.
