Description | Proyecto Oasis BCS is Mexico's first operational deployment of green hydrogen for utility-scale electricity generation. It is a hybrid system combining a 72MW photovoltaic plant, 20MW of battery storage, 20MW of electrolyzers, and 6MW of hydrogen fuel cells to supply electricity to approximately 40,000 households in Mulegé, Baja California Sur. The project aims to substitute diesel and fuel oil used for demand peaks, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 94,389 tons per year, and reduce fossil fuel consumption by about 23,000 cubic meters annually. It addresses the challenge of an isolated electrical grid by using surplus solar energy to produce and store hydrogen for nighttime electricity generation. |
