Description

Description

The project concerns the development of the psycho-social well-being of children and young people living in the arctic area. The project was started on a bilateral basis between Finland and Russia and the aim is now to extend the project to also include Sweden and Norway. The intention is to develop a transnational policy for promoting the psycho-social well-being and safety of children and young people and a sufficiently supportive social environment in the Barents Region. The project involves the setting up of multi-professional teams that operate on the principle of collaborative co-operation practises and the sharing of learning between sectoral authorities, instances engaged in practical work and research, and the various countries involved. Work on developing this co-operation closely involves teacher training and teaching in social and health matters, which are issues also present in the development of a new degree programme and new training modules.
