Description
Description | PT Tanjung Kasam Power was developing the 110 MW coal plant in Kepulauan Riau province, Batam. The project was to consist of 2 turbines of 55MW. The project was owned by a consortium of China Huadian Engineering Corporation (CHEC), the local power utility PT PLN Batam, and PT Petra Unggul Sejahtera. PT PLN Batam was wholly-owned by state-owned utility PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), but was expected to be publicly offered by late-2012. The project became operational in June 2012, and will start commercial operations in September 2012. CHEC;s involvement in the project was approved by China's National Development and Reform Commission in 2010. Construction started in March 2011. The EPC contract was awarded to CHEC, and was valued at US$ 168.75 million. The first supply of coal was to arrive in April 2012, sourced from East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The output was to be sold on IPP basis for 30 years to PLN Batam. The operator was to be CHD Power Plant Operation Co. Ltd., an affiliate of CHEC. The developer was expecting an electricity tariff of US$0.0395 per kWh. Total cost of the project was US$126 million, but has also been estimated at US$200 million. The conservative estimate of US$126 million was reported here. Financing was to be provided by the Export Import Bank of China. http://en.indonesiafinancetoday.com/read/20787/TJK-Power-Secures-US-771.9-M-from-Electricity-Sales-to-PLN-Batam |
