Public Bathroom at Gropius House

planned

Architectural designer Isabel Strauss has designed a public bathroom for the grounds of Walter Gropius's self-designed home in Lincoln, Massachusetts. The design mirrors the footprint of an existing garage and is inspired by the Bauhaus tradition and the local architectural context. The bathroom will feature a simple quadrilateral form, natural light through transome windows and skylights, and be clad in dry mortar fieldstone. It will provide two single-use toilet rooms with shared sinks and an antechamber, designed to be respectful and complementary to the historic Gropius House.
