The objective of the supplemental credit to the Republic of Djibouti is to provide additional financing for the ongoing Social Development and Public Works Project (SDPWP), credit no. 3225, and contribute to complete and ensure sustainable use of the already established social and economic infrastructure. The supplemental project will fund the completion of vital social and economic infrastructure development programs in the poorest neighborhoods of Djibouti which could not be served, or were only partially served, through the activities supported by the ongoing SDPWP credit. This includes the implementation of civil works programs to improve and expand their existing street systems, water supply and sanitation services, and primary education, health and social facilities. The implementation process will be carried out with the support of the local authorities and communities concerned. The required civil works will be aimed at creating job opportunities for the poorest segments of the local population.
